College of Arts & Sciences,
Welcome to the AMSC Lab!
Our research focuses on the design and synthesis of biologically active heterocyclic organic compounds and the synthesis and study of charge delocalization mechanisms in molecular wires.
Investigating the mechanisms of enzyme-catalyzed reactions, particularly those involving radical intermediates, to understand their role in essential biosynthetic pathways like thiamin and vitamin B12 production. This includes exploring the evolutionary significance and impact on enzyme function in metabolic regulation.
Exploring medicinal plants for antiviral properties, particularly against SARS-CoV-2. This involves computational virtual screening to identify potential herbal-based modulators for developing novel antiviral treatments.
Developing targeted anticancer therapies by designing and optimizing quinazoline-based and quinoxaline-based compounds. This includes focusing on protein kinase inhibitors and PARP-1 inhibitors to create safer, more effective treatments with high selectivity and low toxicity.
